만삭에 태어난 건강한 신생아에게도 두개강 내 출혈이 생길 수 있지만, 아주 작은 미숙 신생아에게는 두개강 내 출혈이 더 잘 생길 수 있다.
특히 난산으로 태어난 작은 미숙 신생아들이나, 출생 후 어떤 병으로 심하게 앓는 작은 미숙 신생아들에게는 두개강 내 출혈이 더 쉽게 생길 수 있다.
간혹 비타민 K 결핍증으로 두개강 내 출혈이 생길 수 있다. 그 때문에 출생 직후 비타민 K 주사를 모든 신생아는 통상적으로 맞아 두개강 내 출혈을 예방한다.
혈액응고 이상이나 혈소판 결핍증 등으로 인해서도 전시성 출혈이 생길 수 있고
두강강 내 출혈이 생길 수 있다.
패혈증이나 뇌막염 등으로 두개강 내 출혈이 생길 수 있다.
드물게는 안전사고나 아동 학대(소아 학대)로 두개강 내 출혈이 미숙아에게 생길 수 있다.

Intracranial bleeding can occur in healthy newborns born at full term, but intracranial bleeding is more likely in very small immature newborns.
In particular, intracranial bleeding may occur more easily in small immature newborns born with difficulty or small immature newborns who are severely ill from some disease after birth.
Sometimes vitamin K deficiency can lead to intracranial bleeding.
For this reason, vitamin K injections immediately after birth are routinely administered to all newborns to prevent intracranial bleeding.
Exhibit bleeding may occur due to abnormal blood clotting or platelet deficiency. Intracranial bleeding can occur.
Intracranial bleeding can occur due to sepsis or meningitis.
In rare cases, intracranial bleeding can occur in premature babies due to safety accidents or child abuse (child abuse).
