신생아 결막염, Neonatal conjunctivitis

신생아의 결막에 생긴 염증을 신생아 결막염이라 한다.
바이러스 감염, 세균(박테리아)감염, 또는 클라미디아 감염이 신생아의 눈에 생길 때 신생아 결막염이 생길 수 있다.
또 신생아의 눈에 바른 약물이나 화학 물질 등으로 신생아 결막염이 생길 수 있다(신생아 임질균 결막염, 제19권 눈-신생아 임질균 결막염 참조).
갓 태어난 신생아의 눈에 임질성 결막염이 생길 수 있다. 임질성 결막염을 예방하기 위해 갓 태어난 모든 신생아의 눈에 질산은 안약을 통상적으로 넣었었다.
이 때 신생아 눈에 넣었던 질산은 안약으로 화학물질성 신생아 결막염이 자주 생기기도 했다.
그러나 요즘 질산은 안약으로 임질성 결막염 예방적 치료를 통상적으로 하지 않고 있다.
출생 이후 바이러스나 박테리아 등의 병원체가 신생아 결막에 감염될 때 신생아 겸염성 결막염이 생길 수 있다. 신생아 결막염의 대부분은 분만 중 분만부의 산도 속에 있던 세균이 신생아의 결막에 감염되어 생긴다. 출생하기 전 세균이 모체에서 태아의 결막에 감염되어 신생아 결막염이 생길 수 있다.
비루관(Nasolacrimal duct)이 선천적으로 막힐 때 비루관 폐쇄라고 한다. 비루관이 폐쇄되어 있는 쪽의 결막에 염증이 생겨 그로 인해 신생아 결막염이 생길 수 있다.

Neonatal conjunctivitis 신생아 결막염

Inflammation of the conjunctiva of newborns is called neonatal conjunctivitis.
Neonatal conjunctivitis can occur when a viral infection, bacterial infection, or chlamydia infection occurs in the newborn’s eye.
In addition, neonatal conjunctivitis can occur due to drugs or chemicals applied to the newborn’s eyes (refer to Gonorrhea conjunctivitis in newborns, Volume 19 Eye-Neonating Gonorrhea conjunctivitis).
Gonorrhea conjunctivitis can develop in the eyes of newborn babies.
Silver nitrate eye drops were routinely placed in the eyes of all newborn babies to prevent gonorrhea conjunctivitis.
At this time, chemical conjunctivitis occurred frequently with silver nitrate eye drops that were put into the newborn’s eyes.
However, these days, silver nitrate is not usually used to prevent gonorrhea conjunctivitis.
When a pathogen such as a virus or bacteria infects the newborn’s conjunctiva after birth, neonatal hemophilic conjunctivitis can occur.
Most neonatal conjunctivitis is caused by infection of the conjunctiva of the newborn by bacteria in the birth canal of the delivery part during delivery.
Before birth, bacteria can infect the conjunctiva of the fetus in the mother, resulting in neonatal conjunctivitis.
When the nasolacrimal duct is congenital obstruction, it is called a nasolacrimal duct obstruction.
Inflammation of the conjunctiva on the side where the nasolacrimal duct is closed can lead to neonatal conjunctivitis.
