신생아 임질균 결막염, Neonatal gonorrheal conjunctivitis

모체의 산도에 있던 임질균이 태어나는 아기의 눈에 감염되어 신생아 결막염이 생길 수 있다.
임신 중 임질균에 감염되어 있는 것을 모르고 치료 받지 않은 임신부나 임신 중 임질균 감염으로 생긴 임질균 질염이 완전히 치료되지 않은 분만부의 산도에서 분만 중 임질균이 태어나는 아기의 눈에 감염될 수 있고 그로 인해 태어난 후 신생아가 임질균 결막염에 걸릴 수 있다. 또 임질을 앓고 있는 임신부로부터 태어난 아기에게 임질균 결막염이 생길 수 있다.
신생아의 눈에 임질균 결막염이 생길 때는 임질균이 결막에도 감염되고 안구 전체로 퍼져도 삽시간에 안구 전체가 곪을 수 있다.
임질균 결막염은 대단히 위험한 신생아 눈 감염병이다.
적절히 속히 치료하지 않으면 임질균 관절염, 뇌막염, 심장염 등이 동시에 생길 수 있다

신생아 임질균 결막염의 증상 징후

임질균 결막염은 출생 후 바로 증상 징후가 발생되지 않고 생후 2∼5일경에 나타나는 것이 보통이다.
한쪽 눈이나 양쪽 눈에서 노랗고 짙은 고름이 삽시간에 많이 흘러나오고 눈을 뜰 수 없을 정도 눈이 퉁퉁 붓고, 결막이 빨개진다.
속히 적절히 치료하지 않으면 각막염, 각막 궤양, 각막 천공, 안구염 등이 생길 수 있고 실명될 수 있다. 그리고 여러 종류의 임질균 감염성 질환이 신체 각 계통에 생길 수 있다.

신생아 임질균 결막염의 진단

병력 증상 징후 진찰소견 등을 종합해서 이 병이 의심되면 눈에서 채취한 고름 피검 물로 그람염색 세균 현미경검사, 세균 배양 검사 등을 해서 확진한다. 엄마와 아빠도 검진을 받고 적절히 치료 받아야 한다.

신생아 임질균 결막염의 치료

신생아 임질균 결막염이 있다고 의심되면 응급히 적극적으로 치료받아야 한다.
치료를 적절히 받지 않으면 실명할 수 있고 임질균 합병증이 전신에 생길 수 있다.
신생아 임질균 결막염은 입원해서 적절한 항생제 혈관주사로 치료한다.
이런 이유로 신생아에게 어떤 종류의 결막염이 생기면 서둘러서 진단 치료를 받아야한다.

신생아 임질균 결막염의 예방

갓 태어난 모든 신생아의 눈에 테트라사이클린 안약이나, 에리스로마이신 안약 등을 통상적으로 눈에 발아 신생아 임질균 결막염을 예방하는 것이 보통이다.

Gonorrhea in the mother’s birth canal can infect the baby’s eyes, resulting in neonatal conjunctivitis.
Pregnant women who do not know they are infected with gonorrhea during pregnancy and who have not been treated or who have gonorrhea caused by gonorrhea infection during pregnancy can infect the eyes of babies who are born with gonorrhea during delivery in the birth canal of a delivery woman that has not been completely treated.
Your baby can get gonorrhea conjunctivitis.
In addition, gonorrhea conjunctivitis can develop in babies born to pregnant women suffering from gonorrhea.
When gonorrhea conjunctivitis occurs in a newborn’s eye, gonorrhea can also infect the conjunctiva, and even if it spreads to the entire eyeball, the entire eyeball can be infected.
Gonorrhea conjunctivitis is a very dangerous neonatal eye infection. If not treated properly and promptly, gonorrhea arthritis, meningitis, carditis, etc. can occur at the same time.

Your baby can have dark yellow pus and swollen eyelids.

Symptoms signs of neonatal gonorrhea conjunctivitis

Gonorrhea conjunctivitis does not develop any symptoms immediately after birth, and usually occurs around 2-5 days after birth.
Yellow and dark pus flows out of one or both eyes in an instant, the eyes become swollen enough to be unable to open the eyes, and the conjunctiva becomes red. If not treated promptly and appropriately, keratitis, corneal ulcers, corneal perforation, ophthalmitis, etc. may occur, and blindness may occur.
And several types of gonorrhea infectious diseases can occur in every system of the body.

Diagnosis of neonatal gonococcal conjunctivitis

If this disease is suspected by combining medical history, symptoms, signs, examination findings, etc., it is confirmed by performing a Gram-stained bacterial microscopic examination and a bacterial culture examination with the pus specimen collected from the eye.

Mothers and fathers should also undergo checkups and receive appropriate treatment.

Treatment of neonatal gonococcal conjunctivitis

If you suspect that your baby has neonatal gonococcal conjunctivitis, your baby need to be actively treated in an emergency.

Without proper treatment, blindness can occur and gonorrhea complications can develop throughout the body.

Neonatal gonorrhea conjunctivitis is hospitalized and treated with appropriate intravenous antibiotics.

For this reason, if a newborn develops any type of conjunctivitis, it is imperative to seek diagnostic treatment in a hurry.

Prevention of neonatal gonorrhea conjunctivitis

Tetracycline eye drops or erythromycin eye drops are commonly used in the eyes of all newborn babies to prevent neonatal gonococcal conjunctivitis.
